SUMMARY:The African Odyssey Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition is only open Thursdays-Sundays each week. It is closed on Mondays-Wednesdays\n\n\n\nMontpelier is honored to present\, in collaboration with the Braxton Institute\, Dr. Joanne Braxton’s moving photography of her odyssey to Ghana\, Ivory Coast\, and Senegal. The exhibit explores an unexpected\, very personal story and an encounter with ancestral memory. As a descendant of African people enslaved at Montpelier\, she hopes that you will see and feel some of what she saw and felt as she journeyed to discover the meaning of the words of her grandmother\, Emma Harrison\, “My father always said that we have a home over there.” Through her photography\, she honors her enslaved great-grandfather\, William Harrison\, and “diasporic Africans\, unwilling immigrants to the Chesapeake in the 17th and 18th centuries.” \n\n\n\nThis exhibition is produced in collaboration with the Braxton Institute for Sustainability\, Resiliency and Joy.

SUMMARY:Frolic
DESCRIPTION:* This exhibition runs Jun. 15–Aug. 15\, with a public reception on Sat.\, Jun. 20 and an artist and curator talk on Sat.\, Jul. 18. * \n\n\n\nCurated by Rashad Ali Muhammad in celebration of Pride Month\, Frolic is a bold tribute to queer resilience\, creativity\, and joy. Featuring C.S. Corbin\, Chrys Seawood\, Michael P. Jr.\, Miss Grace David\, and Shyama R. Cuver\, this exhibition asserts that joy is not just a byproduct of survival—it is a radical act of resistance. \n\n\n\nThrough collage\, sculpture\, installation\, and digital media\, these artists transform adversity into light\, affirming that queerness is a driving force for cultural progress\, innovation\, and healing. Frolic is a celebration of thriving\, existing\, and creating unapologetically.

SUMMARY:Maria Santiago: Designing Through the Geometry
DESCRIPTION:Designing through the Geometry comprises two series\, Jupiter Background in Black and Time\, by Argentinian artist Maria Santiago. Time is invisible. The Past-Present-Future is one with constant movement: yesterday\, today\, and tomorrow. Time transforms into small movements or changes. Time is magic. The artist focuses on color and time\, where everything is always moving and everything changes. However\, the background is completely quiet\, and the shapes are only inside the circle as time passes. This mixed-media show focuses on what it means to explore texture and bright colors against geometric shapes.
