Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums centers on the once-brilliant Tenenbaum siblings—Chas, Margot, and Richie—whose childhood genius faded under the influence of their absentee father, Royal. Years later, Royal reenters their lives, claiming he is terminally ill in an attempt to reconnect with his estranged family. As old wounds resurface, each family member confronts personal failures and unresolved feelings. The film is a stylized tragicomedy about family dysfunction, disappointment, and the possibility of reconciliation.
